Author Jay Wertz to sign books at Armed Forces Bowl

 Los Angeles, CA - December 9, 2010
Author /historian Jay Wertz will be signing books at the Weider History Group booth on Thursday, December 30 at the Bell Helicopter Armed Forces Bowl in Dallas, TX.

Jay Wertz will be joined by Col. (ret.) Jerry D. Morelock, PhD, a West Point graduate who is editor in chief of Armchair General Magazine and edited THE PACIFIC – Volume One-Pearl Harbor to Guadalcanal.

The Weider History Group booth, located in the Adventure Area of SMU Gerald J. Ford Stadium, is open from 8:30am-10:30am before the game, and until 5pm. A post game concert with performances by Gary Sinese and the Lt. Dan Band will be in the Adventure Area as well.

“Jay has written a terrific book that is not only outstanding ‘must read’ narrative history, it presents the ‘real war’ recounted in fascinating, ‘you are there’ detail by those who fought it. The veterans’ accounts are at the heart of the book and really make it a stand out,” says Jerry Morelock.

THE PACIFIC---Volume One-- Pearl Harbor to Guadalcanal, is the latest book from Mr. Wertz.  This first volume premieres a ten part book series: War Stories: World War II Firsthand, which offers a unique approach to World War II by weaving stories of combat veterans of all forces into an event by event history of the war. The series includes hundreds of first person interviews and oral histories of the soldiers on the ground, the sailors on the high seas, and airmen in the sky.

THE PACIFIC---Volume One-- Pearl Harbor to Guadalcanal features heart-wrenching testimony from the survivors of the attack on Pearl Harbor, Bataan Death March and much, much more.  Extensive research has resulted in finding those who are willing to share their personal, often unusual, and always fascinating wartime recollections.  The book is fully illustrated with dynamic images, including color photos; and specially designed 3-D maps.

Jay Wertz is the author of three books -- The Native American Experience, The Civil War Experience 1861-1865, and co-author of Smithsonian's Great Battles and Battlefields of the Civil War. His television credits include the award-winning 13-part documentary series Smithsonian's Great Battles of the Civil War

Mr. Wertz is available for speaking engagements and media interviews. For information or booking, contact  Karen Morris, Sand Castle Communications, sandcastlecomm@verizon.net.
